Singer Ko Yeong-yeol calmly shared his recent life in Gimpo along with the diverse residential experiences he has gone through. In a live video on the YouTube channel 'CH. Ko Yeong-yeol' released on September 21, 2026, he shared the characteristics of his recent move and episodes from the areas where he previously resided.

"A singer obsessed with high floors"... Memories of the Bomun-dong youth housing days

Ko Yeong-yeol revealed that by moving to Gimpo recently, he has resided in a low-rise unit for the first time. In the past, he preferred high-rise units, moving through high floors in Bomun-dong apartments, Yongin, Paju, and Gimpo, but he mentioned that this low-rise life in Gimpo gives him a sense of improved quality of life, being quiet and allowing him to hear the sound of birds.

In particular, he recalled his experience of winning a spot in SH youth housing when he lived in Bomun-dong, Seoul. At that time, he disclosed an anecdote where he experienced discrimination between youth housing and general sale units. In the video, Ko Yeong-yeol said, "I lived in a unit where I experienced a lot of discrimination, such as having different entrances or restricted access, because from the perspective of people who purchased general sale units, the quality of the apartment was said to decrease due to rental housing." He added that he experienced discriminatory views, such as having to prove he was a resident of a specific building to the security staff when using the apartment fitness center at the time. He explained that the complex he lived in back then was so segregated that the building numbers were designated differently from the general units.

Ko Yeong-yeol recalled that the period when he wrapped up his life in Bomun-dong and moved to Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, was a major turning point in his life. At that time, he moved to Cheoin-gu, Yongin to combine his home and studio, but he faced great difficulties due to the distance from Seoul.

Ko Yeong-yeol expressed the hardship of that time, saying, "From Yongin to Seoul, it was 1 hour and 40 minutes one way, and I spent more than 3 hours round trip on the road," adding, "It feels like I scattered my years while traveling on the Gyeongbu Expressway." He stated that while his living environment improved by purchasing new appliances and furniture due to the larger house, he also suffered physical burdens and weight gain due to the long commuting time. Recalling his life in Yongin, he mentioned, "I just eat and get in the car. That's why I gained weight."

From Paju to a low-rise in Gimpo..."A residential journey toward dreams"

After his life in Yongin, he moved to Gyoha, Paju to be even slightly closer to Seoul. He recalled that time, saying he "lived very intensely and hard" while residing in Paju for about 2 years. Life in Paju was a different environment from Yongin, and he realized the vastness of Gyeonggi Province, such as the travel time becoming longer when visiting his hometown, Gwangju. He stated that Gyoha, Paju is a place created as a planned new city, and he resided in a place around the 12th floor near where the GTX was being developed at the time.

Ko Yeong-yeol said that through these repeated moves and changes in residence, he developed life values and a sense of density in his life. He continued the live broadcast by explaining the process of coming to consider efficiency and quality of life in choosing a residence, saying, "I thought, 'Let's at least go to Gyeonggi Province, which is somewhat close.'"
